New book teaches ‘Life Lessons Learned from Sports’

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) – A new book has been published to remind us how sports and what we have learned through these competitions can be taken into all dimensions of life. It’s called “Life Lessons Learned from Sports,” written by John Ed Mathison, a longtime pastor at Frazer Methodist Church.

Mathison will tell you that he learned some of the best lessons in life by doing sports. He has always been very involved in sports, even though he went to college with a full basketball scholarship and played in college tennis in # 1 singles, and he never lost a game in those four years! He has also done some training in addition to his ministry work.

Mathison says he has written extensively throughout his life playing and watching sports while learning about these lessons over the years and decided that it would benefit other people to reflect on these lessons, especially young people, when they compete to teach them the value of good lessons.

“These are life lessons learned. They are not only to be listed or observed, but also to be learned and practiced. Real learning happens when we hear or see something and then adapt it to our daily lives, ”Mathison said.
